This past weekend, Lynne Fancher came over to trim goat hooves, help Mackenzie learn how to *show* a goat, and give her an art lesson. Mackenzie had a fabulous time and has been drawing goats ever since.

The weather was nice and we enjoyed a wonderful day outside-

We went down to check on the bees and found they moved! They left a little bit of honey. We are ordering more.

I updated the garden section too.

Here is a man on a mission- you can feel the intensity? Just look how determined his stance is- he is focused.

(The sheep were loose and were sticking their head through the fence eating his soccer field grass).

He trained for this moment a lot in his life- finally, all of those dodgeball games are about to payoff-

SCORE! Jeff- 1, Sheep-0

Jeff scored three more times but the sheep rallied at the end. 50 to 1 proved to be too much for the guy. He decided the grass on the side of the soccer field just wasn't that important (or maybe he decided he didn't want to be his wife's and daughter's entertainment, as we were laughing, and cheering, and taking pictures like the paparazzi). :)

We got lots of rain today. It started clearing up this evening so I went to work with the cows on tying. The halter I put on the cow is too big and it slipped off. Not good. I am thinking of a fix so I can try again in the morning. The chickens are starting to lay more eggs. We got 5 today. Mackenzie, Cambrie, and I guessed how many eggs we would get (I won!). :)

COW(S) 1 ME 1 :)

I went to the feed store and bought a rope halter first thing this morning. The feed store guy told me I needed to be careful to make sure the halter wasn't cutting off circulation. He told me to tie a knot on the inside right where the rope becomes a lead. Got home, got it on/ halter knot tied, tied her up and it slipped off again! Ugh! I said the heck with the inside knot and tried again. It worked! She has pulled back a few times but nothing major. So I decided to tackle the baby next. A LOT MORE WORK!

She won't come close to me (even with treats). So I busted out my wanna be cowgirl skills and roped her. It wasn't pretty, but I finally got the rope over her head. She took off running, bucking, hollering like a wild cow! After about five minutes she tired and stopped. I grabbed the rope (told myself I would let go if she took off so I wouldn't get rope burn) but before my brain could think let go she took off and I ended face first in the mud about 5 ft from the place I picked up the rope. Yeesh! ;) We spent about an hour before I get the end of the rope wrapped around something (forget the tie post- I was going for trees- anything! Finally I got the corner of the loafing shed. I still can't get close enough to put the halter on her. I came inside for a little break and I will go back out in a few minutes.
